Marama points are vital energy points on the body that work with both the gross and subtle levels of the body.

Just like quantum physics is confirming, this Ayurvedic practice has maintained that the human being is not a solid, stable, material structure, but rather, an ever-changing dynamic collection of energy and intelligence. Each cell of the body holds the microcosm of the macrocosm which is the larger field of cosmic consciousness.

The word “marma” means mortal or vulnerable point, pointing to its access to areas that could be tender, weak or sensitive. What’s more, these vital points are integral components of the nervous system and are sensitive to touch, light, pressure, hot/cold, sound, herbal pastes and aromatherapy.

Marmani also correlates to the 7 major chakras, as well as the 72,000 Nadis (energy channels) within and around the body. So while Marma Point Therapy, or Marma Chikitsa, is used to heal, restore and balance physical dis-eases, it also works profoundly on the subtle levels which is how it gets to the root causes of most imbalances, creating lasting results when applied appropriately for the concern.

Lastly, the body is an instrument meant to process emotions and sensory impressions. When emotions and impressions are not fully processed they end up taking up residence in different organs of the body. Common examples are anger residing in the liver or grief in the lungs/heart area. When specific marma points are stimulated they help to release these specific stores of energy that can cause disruption to one’s health and overall wellbeing.

Who is Marama Chikitsa for?

Just about everyone.

What does it help with?

Emotional balance

Recharge your energy

Calm the nervous system

Improve digestion

Detoxification

Pain management

Thyroid disorders

Heart issues

Insomnia

Sinus congestion

Chronic health issues

What’s unique about Marma Chikitsa?

While it’s fun and wonderful to receive a treatment from a practitioner, it can be self administered so that regular treatments can be done.

For headache — press the eyebrow center (between the two eyebrows)

For back pain — press the center of the palm.

For nasal congestion — press alongside the nostrils

For fatigue — press above the upper lip under the center of nose

For insomnia — press four fingers above the ankle bone

For energy and rejuvenation — massage the ear lobe with thumb and index fingers then massage the entire outer ear

What’s a Marma Chikitsa fun fact?

Yoga Asana (postures) can work deeply with a variety of marma points which is one of the reasons why asana practice can be so restorative, balancing and healing.

Want to learn how to work with your Marma Points or have a treatment with Sita?

Schedule by clicking on Yoga Therapy Session here: https://www.tejasyogawellness.com/wellness/

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Marma point therapy came long before acupressure and acupuncture, points called “marma” or “marmani” were being used to diagnose, heal, offer pain relief and balance the body/mind.
