At your initial session ($145) Sita will give you a complete wellness plan that fits your life style with meditation, spiritual counseling, chanting, self-study, journaling, ritual, pranayama, yantra, mudra, mantras, and or asanas. The comprehensive guide will set you up to try each of the practices. If you need extra support or have questions about your plan, follow up sessions are available at a reduced rate of $95

About Your Yoga Therapist

Sita Severson

Sita started her career as a holistic practitioner in 2007 after spending several years studying Ayurveda, Yoga & Meditation. Sita has taught doctors and nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital, creating curriculum and teaching for the Baltimore County Department of Aging, as well as holding a private practice.

In her years of experience, Sita has supported thousands of people through heath issues, health and major life transitions. She is a Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic Resident, as well as co-owner of Tejas Yoga & Wellness in Chula Vista, CA.

Is Yoga Therapy a legitimite treatment option?

Yoga Therapy is relatively new and the governing body is The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Their mission on their website is:

IAYT supports research and education in yoga and serves as a professional organization for yoga teachers and yoga therapists worldwide. Our mission is to establish yoga as a recognized and respected therapy.

Founded in 1989, IAYT has consistently championed yoga as a healing art and science. Membership is open to yoga practitioners, yoga teachers, yoga therapists, healthcare practitioners who use yoga in their practices, and yoga researchers. School membership is open to schools with yoga therapy training programs. 

IAYT has more than 5,000 individual members from 50+ countries, and more than 150 member schools. As of spring 2021, there are also 66 IAYT-accredited yoga therapy training programs, with more under review.

The training to become a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) is an 805 hour training program. Sita Severson, who is Tejas’s Yoga Therapist resident is completing her training early 2023 from Soul Of Yoga Institute in Encinitas, Ca. You can read more about their program here:
