Nia Technique


The Nia Technique is a mind/body physical conditioning program that initially stood for Non-Impact Aerobics. It is a health and holistic fitness that evolved to include neurological integrative practices and teachings. The Nia Technique was founded in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos AyaRosas in the San Francisco area.

Nia is based on the intelligent design of the body and incorporates somatic experiencing. Each workout brings mindfulness to your dance movement experience leaving you energized, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced.

This cardio-dance workout combines 52 simple moves with dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts to get you fit in 60 minutes. Classes are set to the backdrop of music meant to enhance your senses and your experience. Nia is non-impact, practiced barefoot, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities. Nia classes are taught by licensed Nia teachers.
